In Which I offer Miss Puddlegum some assistance and make a startling discovery. (RP)

Having agreed to Miss Puddlegum’s proposed terms, I found myself in the most interesting position of financial benefactor.  Was it so unusual, then, that I would have a n interest in the progress of her enterprise?  I thought not.  Miss Puddlegum certainly has a passion for her books, but passion can carry one only so far without some measure of business sense.

My maid, Gordon, has some experience as a clerk.  She was, in fact, so employed before coming into my service.  Therefore, I decided I would offer her services to Miss Puddlegum, to help the lady with the mundanities of running a business.  With this in mind  I paid a visit to Miss Puddlegum’s bookstore, quaintly named Jo’s Attic, with Gordon dutifully in tow. In which I meet with Miss Palabra Puddlegum on a matter of business. (RP)

Some of you, dear readers, may recall my consternation at my initial anthropomorphic transformation (earlier post). For many months thereafter I set about searching for whatever means might be had to extricate the fiendish spirit to which I had become conjoined. Alas, my efforts proved fruitless. The best I have been able to manage is something of an equilibrium.  It is, unfortunately, a dynamic situation which occasionally results in my being wholly translated to the metaphysical realm at unexpected times.  I am usually able to return to the physical metaverse in short order, but the effect can be startling to the unprepared.  In the year since (yes dear friends it has actually been a year since) I  have come to accept that this is simply the way of my life now. I have also discovered that there are some advantages to being half-demonic. Among these is a certain facility in the making of agreements, contracts and the like.

The progression of my transformation

One such contract has led to some rather intriguing developments for which I crave your indulgence as I relay the tale. (more…)

In which I undergo a transformative change and venture to show my new face in public

“While strolling through the park one day
In the merry merry month of May
I was taken by surprise
By a pair of roguish eyes
In a moment my poor heart was stole away.”

As I sat with pen in hand, or keyboard at fingers, to set down this entry to what is apparently a moderately well received journal (more on that later) I was listening to the soothing emanations of Radio Riel.  They list the theme of the day as Contemporary Instrumental, although a May Day Eve event begins shortly.  For some reason, possibly because of the plethora of May Day/Beltane/Walpurgisnacht celebrations in the offing for this weekend, the song quoted above came into my head.  A quick enquiry with the services of Mr. Google & Co.  brought to light some interesting, and hithertofore unknown to me, pearls of knowledge regarding the tune commonly known as “Strolling Through the Park“.  If you will permit me, before plunging into the primary focus of this missive I would like to share a few of them with you.
